BY THE NUMBERS

If you need statistics to help guide your decision, let’s walk through a source of information that will be helpful:

FOR OHIO

Click on http://www.ode.state.oh.us/reportcard01/

You will see a number of choices. Under “2001 Local Report Card”

Our suggestion is to first click on “Ohio School District and Building Report Card”

Now comes the difficult task. The first question is “Do I know the School District’s Name?” If you do, you can scroll by district. Remember, this is the district, not individual schools.

However, if you do not, you can click on http://www.ode.state.oh.us/reportcard01/county_files/colist.htm

This file lists each school district by county.

Either process will get you to the same location.

You will note that the list is categorized by school districts, and then by each individual school. You can either select the district report or if you know, it the school report.

Once you have located your district or school, you will have to download the file. An easy task.

Once you open it, you will notice a number of helpful statistics about each school and school districts.

One other source of information for Ohio. Click on: http://www.ode.state.oh.us/reportcard01/ratings/fy00_dist_seq.htm

You will note a rating of each school district. This is a broad-brush picture of each district, not specific schools. The classifications are based on 27 standards with a rating given to each category.

There are other helpful tools on the Ohio web page that you may want to explore. Click on http://www.ode.state.oh.us/ to get to the Ohio Department of Educations home page.

FOR KENTUCKY

Click on www.kde.state.ky.us/

You will note “See the latest test results.”

It will take you to a section where you can click on the county and school and get a complete report. The majority of northern Kentucky schools are located in Campbell, Kenton and Boone Counties.
