2010 COMMITTEE PREFERENCE

to serve on a 2010 Committee. Your talents and interests are needed.

If you would like to be considered for a 2010 CABR/MLS Committee appointment, please indicate on the e-mail form below those committees (in order of preference) on which you would like to serve.

This applies to all members, whether or not you are currently on a committee.

Once all forms have been returned, the appointment process will begin. Please reply to the Board office on or before Oct. 23. Act now to ensure consideration of your requests. Appointments will be mailed in December.

ADVOCACY

Communications/Public Relations (5-6)  Writes articles for dissemination to members. Develop methods to promote community awareness of the deeds of CABR and individual REALTOR® members – both internally and externally -- in order to generate favorable public relations. Plans MLS "Open House" weekend events.

Legislative (4-6) - Studies legislation being considered locally, state-wide and nationally that affects property owners and Board members. Conducts programs intended to foster and enhance sound, working relationships with our elected officials. (Minimum qualification of 3 years of REALTOR® membership, and served on at least one other committee in the past 3 years.)

RPAC (5-6) - Implements the annual RPAC fund-raising drive, prepares candidates questionnaire and interviews candidates for financial RPAC contributions.  (Minimum qualification of 3 years of REALTOR® membership, and served on at least one other committee in the past 3 years.)

 

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Business Technology (4) - Research and demonstrate technological products and services to the general membership at least 2 times a year.

Education (6) - Oversees educational programming to meet members' needs in the areas of continuing education requirements, technological needs and professional designations or certifications.

Equal Opportunity/Diversity (6) - Oversees implementation of the Fair Housing Partnership.  Keeps members up-to-date on fair housing issues and laws.

Grievance (reviews 4-6 complaints a year) - Assists the Board in determining if an arbitration request or ethics complaints should be heard by the Professional Standards Committee.  Complaints are mailed to 3-member panels who meet at the Board office.  Mandatory training requirement.   (Min. qualification of  5 years REALTOR® membership, and served  on Professional Standards Committee).

Professional Standards (5-6 meetings plus up to 5 hearings a year) -  Hears and decides complaints against REALTORS® involving alleged violations of the Code of Ethics, monetary business disputes between REALTORS® of different firms, and earnest money disputes (in conjunction with the REALTOR®/Lawyer Committee). Mandatory training requirement.  (Min. qualification of  5 years REALTOR® membership, and served on at least  one other committee in the past 5 years.)  

Realtor®-of-the-Year (3) -   Reviews resumes of candidates for “REALTOR®-of-the-Year/Management” and “REALTOR®-of-the-Year/Sales”, and selects the winners.   (Minimum qualification of 3 years of REALTOR® membership)

OAR Convention (5-6) - Will plan the 2010 OAR Convention to be held in Cincinnati in September: Selects speakers, educational courses/instructors and plans social events. (Minimum qualification of 3 years of REALTOR® membership, and served on at least one other committee in the past 3 years.) Previous OAR Convention attendance would be helpful.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Budget & Finance (4) - Prepares the annual CABR and MLS budgets.  Meets quarterly to recommend dues amounts, capital expenditures and budget modifications.  (Minimum qualification of 5 years of REALTOR® membership, MLS member, majority to be broker/owner/managers from a combination of small, medium and large firms.) 

 

MEMBERSHIP SERVICES

Circle of Excellence (6) - Administers the Board’s Circle of Excellence, including enforcement of the rules, selection of awards and publicity methods.  (Minimum qualification of 3 years of REALTOR® membership, and served on at least one other committee in the past 3 years.)

Golf Outing (5) - Plans and coordinates the annual golf outing for the membership and obtains sponsorships for the event.

Membership Services (4) - Recommends new Board services and products that are beneficial for members as viable business products and/or result in cost savings for members.  Coordinates membership drive and some social events.  Develops promotional items to foster overall membership growth and retention.

MLS Operations (6) - Develops and enforces procedures and governing rules to maintain a high quality of services provided by MLS. Review recommendations from MLS Users Committee for adoption. (Must be an MLS member. Committee of brokers/agents is from a combination of small/medium and large firms.)

MLS Users (6) - Evaluates modifications to the MLS computer system in an effort to enhance the MLS system for everyday Realtor usage. (Must be an MLS member. Committee of brokers/agents is from a combination of small/medium and large firms.)

MLS Forum (2-3) - Meets to develop new ideas that may be considered by the MLS Users Committee, MLS Operations Committee and/or MLS Lockbox Committee.

Realtor®/Builder (2) - Improves the income potential for Realtors® and Builders through joint marketing, updates the REALTOR®/Builder Guidelines, and sponsors meetings/educational sessions.

Realtor®/Lawyer (10) - Meets with a like committee from the Bar Association to review areas of concern that arise between the two groups.  Monitors and promotes the Earnest Money Arbitration program.  Writes articles, conducts seminars, and roundtables.  

Realtor®/Lender (6) - Forge an improved working relationship with the mortgage industry. Write articles for the membership and the public on the latest financing mechanisms. Appraisers encouraged to serve on this committee.

Young Professionals Network (10-12) - Conducts informational brown-bag lunch and social networking events.
