Many REALTORS® use their presence on social media to promote themselves, their services and their listings. While such promotion can be an effective method of advertising, sometimes the Code of Ethics, license law and other regulations are forgotten. When using social media for business purposes, keep in mind the following:
All rules of advertising apply.
- Brokerage name must be viewable on every page.
- Agent or Team name cannot be more prominent that Broker name. Note: All rules of Team Advertising apply when posting on social media as a team.
- Old / inaccurate information must be updated within 14 days…including listings that are no longer available (i.e. sold, expired).
- If sharing another broker’s listing, permission must be obtained and the listing broker must be identified.
