Hurricane Irma: Help Victims Recover from Monster Storm

Help those affected by Hurricane Irma with tax-deductible donations to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation.

Dear REALTOR® Family:
“I don’t know that anybody comes together better than REALTORS® do.”

That’s what one Houston Association of REALTORS® staff member said as REALTORS® from around the country rallied to provide support to his community after Hurricane Harvey. In fact, thanks to your generosity, thousands of people displaced by Harvey will have a roof over their heads during the long road to recovery. Your contributions have enabled the REALTORS® Relief Foundation to provide $1.75 million in mortgage and rental assistance to Texas families whose homes were devastated by Harvey.

But our work is not finished. With Hurricane Irma’s destructive sweep through the southeast, including Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and wildfires burning in our northwestern states, the need for natural disaster relief funding this year is unprecedented.

As we saw after Harvey, REALTORS® often act heroically to attend to the immediate needs of their communities. So why take the extra step to contribute to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation? Two reasons. First, every dollar you donate goes directly to victims of disaster. The National Association of REALTORS® covers 100% of administrative expenses. Second, the RRF’s housing mission speaks directly to the work we do as REALTORS®. By assisting with victims’ housing costs in the weeks and months following a disaster, RRF helps consumers stay in their communities and helps communities stay strong.

Sixteen years ago today, the seeds of RRF were sown from the terrible Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. (As we commemorate that tragic day, we can take pride in the fact that RRF has since collected and distributed nearly $28 million in relief aid for more than 50 disasters in 34 states. (This video appeal from our friends and fellow NAR leaders Elizabeth Mendenhall, Chris Polychron, and Kenny Parcell recalls the start of our Foundation under Elizabeth’s father, 2001 NAR President Richard Mendenhall and 2002 NAR President Martin Edwards Jr.)

Please help us keep this important work going by making a tax-deductible donation to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation. You can do so in less than one minute using your credit card on our secure online form. Or you can send a check, payable to RRF, to REALTORS® Relief Foundation, 430 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60611. Write “RRF Contribution” in the memo line.

Your donation today will benefit those who need help now. Let’s show those who are hurting, and the entire nation, the spirit of compassion that runs through the REALTOR® family. Thank you!
