CABR ENDORSES MOVE FORWARD – March 17th!

A major policy priority of The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is Infrastructure.

Infrastructure improvements have been shown to enhance property values by creating livable communities and business districts. Poorly maintained streets and traffic congestion in an area impose extra costs throughout the local economy.  Transportation plans should reflect a broad community vision that takes all transportation users into account.”

These are some reasons why the Cincinnati Area Board of REALTORS® has endorsed MOVEFORWARDCincy.comthe Hamilton County-wide effort to replace Cincinnati’s earning tax with a 0.8% sales tax in Hamilton County to reinvest in our transportation system.

VOTING YES on Issue #7 March 17th in Hamilton County will bring $130 million to:

  1. Fund the Reinventing Metro Bus Plan

A complete overhaul of the Cincinnati Region Metro Bus System that includes less waiting, extended hours and shorter trip times along with Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).  Implementing Reinventing Metro will ensure Greater Cincinnati has a modern, efficient transit system that drives the region forward while attracting jobs and talent to our communities.

  1. Fund Infrastructure Needs throughout Hamilton County

A recent analysis (theconnectedregion.com) shows a $1.1 Billion need in Hamilton County for road improvements, expansion, maintenance and construction of new lanes and bridges. Issue #7 will provide $30 million for infrastructure improvements that will increase property values, enhance livable communities and revitalize business districts.

A recent change in Ohio law enables transit authorities to fund infrastructure through voted levies drawing from one of (2) sources:  Property Tax or Sales Tax.  Property Owners throughout Hamilton County will be protected from shouldering the burden alone.  Statistics show that nearly half of the Issue #7 sales tax will come from non-Hamilton County residents.
