2022 CABR/SOAR Leadership Development Academy

Purpose:
“…To cultivate future leaders of CABR/SOAR and surrounding Associations, training participants to become
better equipped for leadership roles, including positions as Committee Vice Chairs, Chairs, Board of Directors and
Officers…and assist members in OR/NAR involvement.”
Requirements:
Minimum 2-year membership in good standing in your local Board.
Participants are required to attend ALL program days. Please submit this application only if you are certain of your ability to meet the time commitment of the program. [No refunds will be given for withdrawal or dismissal from the Program.] Full attendance is required. Arriving 15 minutes late or departing early will be considered the same as missing an entire class and could result in dismissal from the Program. Full participation is expected with no cell phones in use.

Total Program cost is $500

Application fee is $100 – The application fee will be refunded if you are not selected for this program.

Module Information

Module 1: March 23, 2022 – Knowing Yourself as a Leader 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Introduction to Capstone Project
This session will be focused on learning how YOU best operate as a leader. It will provide you with an in-depth look at being a leader not only in one’s business but also in every facet of one’s life. Candidates will engage in DISC profile study to fully understand their personalities and leadership types as they grow and evolve in the program through the year.

Module 2: April 27, 2022 – Introduction to Leadership 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
This initial session will provide Leadership Academy candidates the opportunity to meet and get an introduction to leadership as well as hear from previous leaders.

Module 3: May 25, 2022 –Why Should Anyone Be Led By You? 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Presenter: Ife Bell, Chief Strategy Officer of To Be Consulting The morning part will focus on Professional Standards and The Code of Ethics. As a leader, are you held to a higher standard? How to manage issues affecting your Association when others do not adhere to our guidelines This afternoon session will assist you in becoming more self-aware and provide insight into how to strike the right balance of relationships and task orientation to achieve high performance in your career. You will learn techniques on self-regulation and how to align “your intent with your impact” in your communication and engagement. You will discover how to develop and demonstrate trust and empathy, key ingredients in diverse relationships. Moderators: Marilou Butcher Roth and Christy Beaver

Module 4: June 22, 2022 – My REALTOR Party/Advocacy at Work 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Presenters: Beth Wanless-The Director of Government Affairs of the Ohio REALTORS®,
& Stephen Ciacchi Director RPAC/My REALTOR® Party This session will focus on the REALTOR® Party and its efforts through RPAC, civic engagement and candidate screening on protecting homeownership and REALTOR® interests. Want to know what your RPAC investment is going towards? You’ll learn all about it here. Leave the session with a better understanding on how REALTORS® play a large role in the political landscape as watchdogs for their industry and consumers’ interests.
2 hours is allotted at the end of this session to work on your Capstone Presentation

Module 5: July 27, 2022 – Global to Local 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

This session will focus on diverse immigrant, refugee, and international populations (foreign-born) of our region and how REALTORS® have a broad scope of service when serving an international and diverse community. We will focus on the intersections of demographic shifts, industry trends, talent attraction and retention strategies, and broader regional economic development strategies in Cincinnati. Participants will leave the session with enhanced awareness of the:
•diverse foreign-born population and economic impact of foreign-born communities,
•trends in demographic shifts and population growth in the region,
•resources available to support foreign-born populations and strategies to build relationships with foreign-born communities,
•the role of REALTORS®, both commercial and residential, in talent attraction and retention efforts, particularly related to foreign-born populations.
In the afternoon, we will dive into cultural/ethnic/regional differences. The importance of understanding these differences can make or break your relationships.

This session brings in a public relations and media expert to help you learn how to speak to media as a business professional and association leader, as well as learn how to give speeches effectively and communicate vision and direction.

Module 7: September 28, 2022 – Knowing and Growing Our Regional MSA 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Presentation of Capstone Projects
This session will focus on how economic development organizations position the Cincinnati region for continued growth. Topics will include the cost and labor advantage of the Cincinnati region and Ohio, how commercial and residential real estate affects economic development, efforts to attract new residents (talent) from across the globe, key factors that companies use to evaluate communities, the breakdown of new jobs and investments in our region, and case studies from local companies.

Module 8: October 26, 2022 – Graduation Day 9:00 AM-1:30 PM

This session will wrap up with a reassessment of your leadership “ah ha’s” and journey through the Academy.
