Government, be it local, state or federal, impacts  each step of the real estate industry – starting the day a REALTOR® first receives their license and culminating with every closing and property transfer.

CABR Advocacy & Government Affairs works to provide members with the peace of mind that their profession, industry and clients are protected from unfavorable government action, legislation and regulation.

CABR members are part of one of the largest, most powerful and influential lobbying organizations in the country.  It’s not just about protecting REALTORS® though.

We lead the way in protecting private property rights, creating affordable housing opportunities, encouraging smart growth and promoting fair housing, just to name a few.

Some examples of our victories include:

  • Ohio Statehouse, Columbus, OH

    Preserving the Mortgage Interest Deduction;

  • Prohibiting the ability of banks to engage in real estate brokerage and property management;
  • Defeating the proposed expansion of Ohio’s Sales Tax to apply to “services” – including every service that is part of a real estate transaction;
  • Preventing attempts to increase Real Estate Transfer Taxes in Hamilton, Butler and Warren counties; and,
  • Securing continuation of the Property Tax Rollback policy that has provided Cincinnati residents with millions of dollars in property tax relief.
