Hamilton Co. New Home Permits Accelerate through July

Cincinnati, OH, September 11, 2018:  New home permits were up 24.9% in Hamilton County through July compared to the same period seven-month period last year, reports the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati (HBA).  Clermont County reported a 14.2% increase through July.

Both Clermont County and Hamilton County have experienced double-digit increases in single-family permits in 2018 for the first time in several years.  However, Warren County continued its dominance in new home construction in the region, with a total of 762 single-family permits through July. Liberty Township in Butler County continued to lead the region in new home permits with 164.

Single-family home permits through July were off in the other two counties tracked by the HBA. Butler County permits dropped by -17%, followed by Warren County, which showed a -7.7% decrease.

Overall single-family permits issued in the four counties dropped by -1.0%. The totals through July were:

  8. Turtle Creek Township (Warren Co.) —68
  9. City of Cincinnati (Hamilton Co.) —55
  10. Green Township (Hamilton Co.) —46

“Even with the monthly dips we are still on pace for a solid year, said Dan Dressman, HBA Executive Director. “Both labor and lot shortages continue to plague the residential construction industry, which has increased new home prices, However, compared to other regions in the country, new homes in Greater Cincinnati are still very affordable,” he added.
